TORINO TATTOO CONVENTION 2025: THE NEW TRENDS IN TATTOOING IN ITALY

An analysis of public preferences by tattoo artists attending the convention: a snapshot of the industry

26–28 September 2025 – Inalpi Arena
Corso Sebastopoli 123, Turin

The Turin Tattoo Convention 2025 is preparing to open its doors from 26 to 28 September at the Inalpi Arena in Turin for an edition that promises to be even richer, more engaging and full of surprises. One of the most eagerly awaited events in Europe, where tattooing becomes art, culture and a universal language. With over 400 tattoo artists from all over the world and 15,000 visitors expected, the event confirms its status as a benchmark for enthusiasts and professionals in the sector.

And from the privileged perspective of the convention's tattoo artists comes a global overview of tattoo trends in Italy. An analysis that provides a detailed picture of aesthetic preferences and new horizons in national tattooing.

Tattooing in Italy: key trends
The world of tattooing in Italy is undergoing a phase of great evolution and maturation, with an increasingly attentive and aware clientele.

• Average age of customers: 60% of Italian customers are between 26 and 35 years old, confirming the growing interest among young adults.  But tattoos are also popular among younger people: 13% of tattooed individuals are between 18 and 24 years old.
• Frequency of sessions: Approximately 70% of Italian tattoo artists indicate that their customers undergo more than one session, demonstrating that tattooing is increasingly considered an ever-changing art form, not limited to a single design.
• Gender trends: The division between men and women is becoming increasingly balanced, with the market split almost equally between the two genders.
• Most popular styles and subjects
Among the favourite styles and subjects, there is a clear return to tradition, mixed with new contemporary influences.
Forty-six per cent of tattoo artists indicate realism as one of the most popular styles, with subjects including still life and portraits. The minimalist style accounts for 16 per cent, closely followed by blackwork, geometric, fine line and Japanese, which continue to dominate the scene, sharing the remaining percentages equally.
Flowers and nature: The most popular subjects include flowers, plants and natural themes, with 30% of tattoo artists reporting a growing interest in botanical designs. There are also many realistic portraits of people and animals, gypsy subjects and lettering, including in foreign languages. However, preferences are rapidly evolving.

As many as 40% of respondents note frequent changes in customer preferences, with different ideas every year.
•    Keyword: personalisation
An interesting aspect that emerges from the data concerns the demand for personalisation. 75% of Italian tattoo artists say that their customers prefer to create an exclusive design, asking to work closely with the artist to develop a unique idea that represents their identity.
•    Costs and size. The preference is for large tattoos, over 15 cm (46.7%), with an average cost ranging from £200 to £500 per tattoo.

The Turin Tattoo Convention: a crossroads of styles and cultures
The Italian and international artists present will bring their talent to the stage of the event, but also unique visions that reflect the diversity of global tattooing traditions.
Once again this year, there will be tattoo contests, competitions that will see the best tattoo artists compete in an explosion of colours, styles and creativity. The programme also includes entertainment, music, DJ sets and live shows for an immersive event that engages all the senses. Not just a fair, but a unique opportunity to experience and breathe the art of tattooing in all its forms.
